Solstice at Stonehenge

Stonehenge is one of those wonderful places where scholarship and magic push each other around to tell the story of what the stones are all about.

Access to the ancient megaliths is much reduced these days but, still, people manage to try to get what they consider must have been the feelings of the place three or four thousand years ago.

For some, identification with a preferred history of our islands, personal identity and a passion for a better future define who they are.

The lead photograph on this page includes John Timothy Rothwell who is also known as Arthur Uther Pendragon, a British eco-campaigner, Neo Druid and self proclaimed reincarnation of King Arthur.
